Schgagul – Farm Seiser Alp – About the Farm

The Schgagulhof is located above the village of Kastelruth (known as Oberdorf), approx. 1.8 km from the centre at 1,143 m above sea level.

It is among the oldest in Kastelruth, and there is some interesting late gothic architecture to admire. The Peterlunger family has owned the farm for four generations.

Our main agricultural business is milk production.

8 hectares of meadow, 13 hectares of alpine meadow and 15 hectares of forest belong to the farm. We also rent a further 3 hectares of meadow.

There are 20 cows and 15 calves in the stalls. In summer the calves go to the farm’s own mountain pasture, which is located on the famous Seiser Alp. We mow some of the meadow grass in July and bring the hay down to the barn on the farm. The rest is grazed by the animals from June to September.

Im Sommer kommen die Kälber auf die hofeigene Alm
